WHAT TO EXPECT IN catering Field?
We have two months of experience with the new food catering supplier DORA GASTRO. It’s still a short time to do some final analysis, yet we can say that the change is perceived positively. Despite initial difficulties, which occur from time to time even now connected with providing the full range of meals (ie three main dishes) in the required time period, ie from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, the activity of the supplier is stabilizing gradually. It should be understood that it is difficult to estimate the number of meals at an early stage and the difficulty increases with the number choices. I believe that over time employees of the company DORA GASTRO will get closely acquainted with the tastes of our employees and can better estimate the number of preferred choices in each group of standard main dishes.
In recent months the catering services of the company ARAMARK used about 230 workers a day. The company DORA GASTRO cooked in the first month on average 296 meals / day and in October 324 meals / day. We can say that catering services are used daily by hundred workers more. The above fact has led to a sharp drop in sales in both canteens and therefore to their unprofitability. The operator then asked to terminate the lease by agreement by Dec. 31, 2011 with the fact that the activity there would be ended by November 30, 2011 if we are able to provide a replacement operation in this period.
After considering all the circumstances we came to a conclusion that the only possible solution is to connect the activities of catering services and the canteens. This prompted us to further negotiations with the company and DORA GASTRO and it is necessary to say that this company’s willingness to address this issue was friendly.
Currently we are solving all conditions and details of the contract. We are aware of the negative side of the matter of one supplier and therefore we have to approach the issue very responsibly. Suggestion of layout and placement of vending and self-service counters has been prepared and the final appearance of the introduction of the kitchen along with the canteen could get by Nov. 20, 2011. The operation would be initiated then on Dec. 01 2011.
You will be informed about the canteen opening hours once all formalities related thereto are solved. I believe that in this case the change will be perceived positively in the final stage and will satisfy requirements of all our workers.
